This class was one of two that I took in place of the classes I was supposed to take on my London study abroad, with professor Juliet Shields, who was supposed to travel to London with us. For one of my two major assignments in this asynchronous course, we chose a piece of modern media to examine for conventions taken from Gothic literature. I chose BBC's Sherlock, specifically the episode "The Hound of the Baskervilles." I thought that Sherlock would be well suited for this assignment as a modern adaptation of an already classically Victorian and moderately Gothic work. I got good feedback from my professor on this paper, a nice chance to connect in an online age where person-to-person interaction is minimal.
